Chungcheongbuk Province, South Korea
Chungcheongbuk Province (North Chungcheong Province, or Chungcheongbuk-do 충쳥북도) is the only land-locked
province in South Korea, being located in the centre of the country. It’s provincial capital is Cheongju.
Despite having no coastline or beaches, Chungcheongbuk-do is littered with lakes, so you’re never far from
water here! A number of national parks, hiking opportunities, hot springs and caves make for an interesting
province to explore.
Chungcheongbuk-do is pretty accessible due to it’s location in the centre of the country, with buses and
trains linking the province to both Seoul and Busan, as well as many other surrounding towns. Cheongju
(about 30 minutes from north Daejeon) even has its own airport, offering both domestic flights to Jeju;
and short international flights to destinations such as Beijing, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh.
