About - the South Korea travel guide
We founded theSouthKoreatravelguide.com in July 2010; whilst living and working in Korea, in a small town
nestled in the mountains of Gangwon-do. We
quickly fell in love with the country, after initially not knowing much about it at all, and now feel very
passionate about helping others to explore South Korea – a nation which, without a doubt, is set to grow and
develop into a must see destination for people wishing to travel Asia.
Whilst living here, we found that, although there are many good blogs out there written by Westerners in
Korea, and a couple of OK travel websites, there was no site on the internet which had everything we were
looking for, all in one place.
Tired of constantly searching many different websites for English information on the sights and towns
here (and especially detailed transport information), we decided to take matters into our own hands and
build our own travel site.
We want this website to be as collaborative as possible – all of our reviews and town overviews are
written by a number of different contributors, and we constantly welcome new submissions, as well as
suggestions on how we can improve, or ideas for new content we can include. It is going to take some
time to build the site to its full potential, and expand it to encompass all regions of South Korea,
but we are confident that with your help, we will continue to develop and achieve our ultimate vision.
theSouthKoreatravelguide.com's Mission Statement:
“To grow into the most comprehensive and informative South Korean English resource website on the internet,
developing with the help and support of other Westerners living in the country to ensure that all information
is as accurate, honest and extensive as possible. We intend to provide a practical and useful service to both
those people considering coming to Korea, and those who are already here.”
In the first instance, the site will focus on the Gangwon Province, after which we hope that it will
rapidly grow and begin to encompass every province and city in South Korea.
Our initial focus has been to gather English bus and train timetables, as well as information on the
towns in the area and what they have to offer. We are also working hard to create workable maps – something
which was again an online rarity before now. Eventually, we will be adding lots of other useful information -
such as language help; information on topics such as history, food and culture; reviews of tourist destinations,
and much more.
We hope you enjoy using the site and find it useful. We always welcome suggestions and help, so if you are
interested in becoming a ‘theSouthKoreatravelguide.com Contributor’, then please get
in touch with us.
Thanks for visiting, and enjoy Korea!!
